Open Question: Should I relocate to Austin?

Currently I live in DC and grew up and went to college in Ohio. I am thinking about asking for relocation down south to Austin, Texas. I had heard great things about this city and have seen it on my top 10 lists here on Yahoo :) I visited the city 2 months ago for work and I liked what I saw, it kinda reminded me of Ohio...less crowded and things are way cheaper than DC. I have nothing keeping me back in DC now since I work from home. The only thing I would miss is my friends and all the different activities there are to do in and around the city. I always wanted to live somewhere down south but I only know one person in Austin and a few in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. If I move to Austin, I would pay the same amount for my own place down there than what I am paying right now for where I live. Currently I have 2 roommates and share a bathroom and my room is tiny. So I can either stay in DC with my friends and keep paying high rent or move down south into my own apartment where the weather is warm all year but know only one person.
